community programs
Spaulding Marine Center is a working boatyard and a place for the community to learn and connect with the waterfront. Our programs invite people of all ages and experience levels to gain practical skills, explore maritime traditions, and spend time on San Francisco Bay.
We offer opportunities for many different interests. The Boatworks 101™ apprenticeship provides real job training and a path into the marine trades. Adult education classes teach hands on skills in a professional shop environment. Youth programs introduce students to sailing, woodworking, and marine science. Private charters aboard the historic yacht Freda give the public a chance to experience the Bay from the water.
Everything we do is rooted in learning by doing. Classes and programs are led by experienced professionals and take place in an active, real world setting.
Spaulding Marine Center is open to the community, and we welcome anyone who wants to learn, work, or spend time on the waterfront.
